Add Pivot Levels

To add pivot levels:

  1. Select the Pivot Levels tool in one of the following ways:
    • On the toolbar, click the Add Pivot Levels button.
    • On the toolbar, click the Add Pivot Levels arrow and then click Add Pivot Levels.
    • In the Insert menu, point to Pivot and then click Add Pivot Levels.
    • Right-click in the chart. In the pop-up menu, point to Chart Elements and then click Add Pivot Levels.
      * In the FX Trading Station, you can also select the tool in the following way:
      In the Charts menu, point to Insert, point to Pivot and then click Add Pivot Levels.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • To calculate pivot levels using the prices of a period, click in the period.
    • To calculate a number of pivot levels using the prices of a number of periods, drag the pointer through these periods.

    The Add Pivot Levels dialog will appear.

  3. Change the pivot levels papameters in the Parameters tab if necessary:
    • To change the name of the pivot levels, in the Name box, type the new name.

      Note: To reset the pivot levels name to default, click the Reset button.

    • To change the period(s) which prices will be used to calculate pivot levels, in the Start Date and End Date boxes, select or type dates and type time – the prices of periods within the selected dates and time inclusive will be used to calculate the pivot levels.

      Notes:

      • If a chart period is a tick, pivot levels cannot be added to the chart.
      • If the dates and time in Date to and Date from boxes are within the same period, pivot levels will be calculated using the prices of this period.
    • To extend the level lines from the start point, select the Extend start checkbox. Otherwise, clear the checkbox.
    • To extend the level lines from the end point, select the Extend end checkbox. Otherwise, clear the checkbox.
  4. Change the levels in the Levels tab if necessary:

    • To show a pivot level, select the appropriate checkbox. Otherwise, clear the checkbox.
    • To change the color of a pivot level line, in the appropriate box, click the desired color.

    Notes:

    • To apply the changed properties (except the name) to all further pivot levels by default, click Set as Default.
    • To reset factory settings for the pivot levels, click the Reset button.
  5. Click OK.

Notes:

  • You can use the Pivot Levels tool until tools timeout expires. To change tools timeout, see General Options.
  • To deselect the Pivot Levels tool, do the same actions as for selecting the tool or one of the following:
    1. Right-click in the chart.
    2. Press ESC.

Show/Hide Pivot Levels for Last Period

To show/hide pivot levels for the last period of the MarketShot, do one of the following:

  • On the toolbar, click the Add Pivot Levels arrow and then click Show Pivot Levels for Last Period.
  • In the Insert menu, point to Pivot and then click Show Pivot Levels for Last Period.
  • Right-click in the chart. In the pop-up menu, point to Chart Elements and then click Show Pivot Levels for Last Period.
    * In the FX Trading Station, you can also show/hide pivot levels for the last period in the following way:
    In the Charts menu, point to Insert, point to Pivot and then click Show Pivot Levels for Last Period.

Note: In case the last period of the MarketShot is currently not visible on the chart, the pivot levels are not visible as well.

Show/Hide Pivot Levels for All Periods

To show/hide pivot levels for all periods of the MarketShot, do one of the following:

  • On the toolbar, click the Add Pivot Levels arrow and then click Show Pivot Levels for All Periods.
  • In the Insert menu, point to Pivot and then click Show Pivot Levels for All Periods.
  • Right-click in the chart. In the pop-up menu, point to Chart Elements and then click Show Pivot Levels for All Periods.
    * In the FX Trading Station, you can also show/hide pivot levels for all periods in the following way.
    In the Charts menu, point to Insert, point to Pivot and then click Show Pivot Levels for All Periods.

Change Pivot Levels Properties

To change the properties of pivot levels:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Double-click any line of the pivot levels.
    • Right-click any line of the pivot levels. In the pop-up menu, click Change Pivot Levels ‘Name’ where Name is the name of the pivot levels.
    • See Change Properties/Remove Chart Elements.

    The Pivot Levels Properties dialog will appear.

  2. Change the pivot levels papameters in the Parameters tab:

    • To change the name of the pivot levels, in the Name box, type the new name.

      Note: To reset the pivot levels name to default, click the Reset button.

    • To change the period(s) which prices will be used to calculate pivot levels, in the Start Date and End Date boxes, select or type dates and type time.

    • To change the color of a pivot level line, in the appropriate box, click the desired color.

  4. Click OK.

Remove Pivot Levels

To remove pivot levels, do one of the following:
