You can use your own indicators in a chart. Indicators are written in the Lua language (Copyright &copy 1994-2008 Lua.org, PUC-Rio).

To be able to use your indicators, you should add your indicators to the list of indicators, then you can replace and delete them if you wish.

To add your indicator to the list of indicators, and also replace or to remove it from the list:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • In the Chart menu, click Manage Custom Indicators.
    • Get to the Add Indicator dialog in any of the ways described in Add Indicator, and then click the Manage Custom Indicators button.

In case you are going to replace an indicator or indicators, after clicking Load you will see the Confirmation dialog, where you should confirm or cancel the replacement(s). The same dialog also appears when a new indicator or indicators cannot be added or replaced because of some errors to inform you about the fact.

By default, all the replacements are selected, and the chosen command is applied to all of them.

    • To confirm all the replacements, click OK.
    • To cancel all the replacements, click Cancel.
    • To cancel a replacement (or some of the replacements), clear the appropriate checkbox (or checkboxes), and then click OK.
  3. To remove an indicator, click Remove.

Indicators Error Log

When you add your indicator to the list of indicators, in case the indicator has errors, you see the errors in the Confirmation dialog. Errors may also occur when an indicator is added to the chart, in this case you will see an error message with the error details.

Besides, errors may occur:

  • During calculation of an indicator for a price change;
  • During loading of the FX trading station – an indicator, both custom and standard, may fail to load.
  • During loading of a saved chart template, snapshot or layout – a custom indicator may fail to load (for example, for the reason that the indicator was removed from the list of indicators in the period between saving and loading of the chart template, snapshot or layout).

These errors are stored in Indicators Error Log.

To view the Indicators Error Log:

  • In the Chart menu, click Indicators Error Log.
    * In the FX Trading Station, the command is available, in the Charts menu, in the Chart sub-menu.
