Scrolling

Scrolling allows you to move vertically and horizontally through a chart to view the MarketShot prices and periods that are out of the viewing area.

Keybord Scrolling

You can scroll a chart horizontally within the MarketShot data by pressing the ARROW keys.

  • To view earlier periods, press the LEFT ARROW key.
  • To view later periods, press the RIGHT ARROW key.

Mouse Scrolling

Mouse scrolling allows you to move both horizontally and vertically through the chart. Unlike keybord scrolling, horizontal mouse scrolling can be used to add new periods to the MarketShot. The new periods are downloaded automatically once the chart is scrolled out of the MarketShot data.

To scroll a chart by mouse:

  1. Point to the chart.
  2. Scroll the chart horizontally/vertically:
    • To see earlier periods, drag the pointer to the right or rotate the mouse wheel down.
    • To see later periods, drag the pointer to the left or rotate the mouse wheel up.
    • To see higher prices, drag the pointer down.
    • To see lower prices, drag the pointer up.

    Note:

    • You can scroll the chart to view later periods until the latest period is displayed at the left border of the chart.
    • You can scroll a chart vertically only if the vertical autoscaling is disabled. See Scaling.

Automatic Scrolling

Automatic scrolling allows viewing the latest data as soon as it is received. Each time the latest period is added to the MarketShot, the chart is scrolled automatically so that the latest period is displayed at the right border of the chart.

The automatic scrolling is enabled by default.

To disable/enable the automatic scrolling, do one of the following:

  • On the toolbar, click the Lock View button. Lock View
  • In the Chart menu, click Lock View.
  • Right-click in the chart. In the pop-up menu, click Lock View.
  • Right-click in the time values. In the pop-up menu, click Lock View.
  • Press SHIFT + L.
    * In the FX Trading Station, you can also enable/disable autamatic scrolling in the following way:
    In the Charts menu, point to Chart and then click Lock View.

Scrolling to End

Scrolling the chart to the end allows viewing the last period of the MarketShot.

To scroll a chart to the end, do one of the following:

  • On the toolbar, click the Scroll to End button. Scroll to End
  • In the Chart menu, click Scroll to End.
  • Right-click in the chart. In the pop-up menu, click Scroll to End.
  • Right-click in the time values. In the pop-up menu, click Scroll to End.
  • Press END.

    * In the FX Trading Station, you can also scroll a chart to the end in the following way:

    In the Charts menu, point to Chart and then click Scroll to End.

Scaling

Scaling allows you to scale a chart horizontally and vertically to change the number of periods and the price range displayed on the chart.

Horizontal Scaling

Horizontal scaling allows changing the number of periods displayed on the chart.

To scale a chart horizontally:

  1. Point to the horizontal scale.
  2. Scale the chart:
    • To see more periods, drag the pointer to the left.
    • To see less periods, drag the pointer to the right.

Note: The minimum number of periods you can see on the chart is five. The maximum number equals the number of periods in the MarketShot. You can change the horizontal scale by means of zooming. To see less periods, you should zoom in a chart. To see more periods, you should zoom out a chart.

To zoom in a chart, do one of the following:

  • On the toolbar, click the Zoom In button. Zoom In
  • In the Chart menu, point to Zoom and then click Zoom In.
  • Right-click in the horizontal scale. In the pop-up menu, click Zoom In.
  • Right-click in the chart. In the pop-up menu, point to Zoom and then click Zoom In.
  • Rotate the mouse wheel up.
  • Press ALT + =.
    * In the FX Trading Station, you can also zoom in a chart in the following way:
    In the Charts menu, point to Chart, point to Zoom and then click Zoom In.

You can also zoom in a chart by mouse. Zooming in by mouse allows you to zoom in selected periods.

To zoom in a chart by mouse:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • On the toolbar, click the Zoom In by Mouse button. Zoom in by mouse
    • In the Chart menu, point to Zoom and then click Zoom In by Mouse.
    • Right-click in the chart. In the pop-up menu, point to Zoom and then click Zoom In by Mouse.
    • Press ALT + M.
      * In the FX Trading Station, you can enable zooming in by mouse in the following way:
      In the Charts menu, point to Chart, point to Zoom and then click Zoom In by Mouse.
  2. Drag the mouse through the periods which you want to zoom in.

To zoom out a chart, do one of the following:

  • On the toolbar, click the Zoom Out button. Zoom Out
  • In the Chart menu, point to Zoom and then click Zoom Out.
  • Right-click in the horizontal scale. In the pop-up menu, click Zoom Out.
  • Right-click in the chart. In the pop-up menu, point to Zoom and then click Zoom Out.
  • Rotate the mouse wheel down.
  • Press ALT + -.
    * In the FX Trading Station, you can also zoom out a chart in the following way:
    In the Charts menu, point to Chart, point to Zoom and then click Zoom Out.

Vertical Scaling

Vertical scaling allows changing the price range displayed on the chart.

To scale a chart vertically:

  1. Point to the vertical scale.
  2. Scale the chart:
    • To extend the price range, drag the pointer up.
    • To reduce the price range, drag the pointer down.

Note: When the vertical autoscaling is enabled (see below), you can extend the price range until a zero price appears on the axis and reduce the price range until all prices become visible.

Vertical Autoscaling

Vertical autoscaling allows scaling the price axis so that when a chart is scrolled, all prices for the displayed periods are visible.

The vertical autoscaling is disabled by default.

To enable/disable the vertical autoscaling, do one of the following:

  • On the toolbar, click the Autoscale Chart Vertically button. Autoscale
  • In the Chart menu, point to Zoom and then click Autoscale Chart Vertically.
  • Right-click in the vertical scale. In the pop-up menu, click Autoscale Chart Vertically.
  • Right-click in the chart. In the pop-up menu, point to Zoom and then click Autoscale Chart Vertically.
    * In the FX Trading Station, you can also enable/disable the vertical autoscaling in the following way:
    In the Charts menu, point to Chart, point to Zoom and then click Autoscale Chart Vertically.

Fitting

Fitting allows you to scale a chart vertically and horizontally so that the chart could fit into the viewing area.

Fitting Chart Vertically

Fitting a chart vertically allows scaling the price axis so that all prices of the currently displayed periods become visible.

To fit a chart vertically, do one of the following:

  • On the toolbar, click the Fit Chart Vertically button. Fit Chart vertically
  • In the Chart menu, point to Zoom and then click Fit Chart Vertically.
  • Right-click in the vertical scale. In the pop-up menu, click Fit Chart Vertically.
  • Right-click in the chart. In the pop-up menu, point to Zoom and then click Fit Chart Vertically.
    * In the FX Trading Station, you can also fit a chart vertically in the following way:
    In the Charts menu, point to Chart, point to Zoom and then click Fit Chart Vertically.

Fitting Chart Horizontally

Fitting a chart horizontally allows scaling the time axis so that all periods of the MarketShot become visible.

To fit a chart horizontally, do one of the following:

  • On the toolbar, click the Fit Chart Vertically arrow Fit Chart Vertically arrow and then click Fit Chart Horizontally.
  • In the Chart menu, point to Zoom and then click Fit Chart Horizontally.
  • Right-click in the horizontal scale. In the pop-up menu, click Fit Chart Horizontally.
  • Right-click in the chart. In the pop-up menu, point to Zoom and then click Fit Chart Horizontally.
    * In the FX Trading Station, you can also fit a chart horizontally in the following way:
    In the Charts menu, point to Chart, point to Zoom and then click Fit Chart Horizontally.

Fitting Entire Chart

Fitting an entire chart allows scaling the chart so that the chart could fit into the viewing area (both vertically and horizontally).

To fit an entire chart, do one of the following:

  • On the toolbar, click the Fit Chart Vertically arrow Fit Chart Vertically arrow and then click Fit Entire Chart.
  • In the Chart menu, point to Zoom and then click Fit Entire Chart.
  • Right-click in the chart. In the pop-up menu, point to Zoom and then click Fit Entire Chart.
  • Right-click in the horizontal or vertical scale. In the pop-up menu, click Fit Entire Chart.
  • Press HOME.
    * In the FX Trading Station, you can also fit an entire chart in the following way:
    In the Charts menu, point to Chart, point to Zoom and then click Fit Entire Chart.
